Letter Legends is free to play, and advertising is part of how that stays sustainable. There are exactly two formats:
The interstitial has one placement and a deliberate frequency cap:
Interstitials never appear in the tutorial, in the practice round, or on your turn in an asynchronous Battle against another player.
These frequency settings are configured server-side, which means we can loosen them without shipping an app update. We will not tighten them beyond what this page describes without updating this page first.
| Ad format | Shown in Letter Legends? |
|---|---|
| Rewarded video (you tap to watch, you get a reward) | Yes — always opt-in |
| Interstitial (full-screen, after round 1) | Yes — roughly every third single-player game |
| Banner ads | No |
| Ads in the middle of a round | No |
| Ads before you can open the app | No |
| Ads in the tutorial or practice round | No |
The interstitial sits after round 1 rather than at the end of a match on purpose: an ad that fires the instant you finish a game is the most disliked pattern in free word games, and we would rather not earn that review.
We use LevelPlay (powered by ironSource, a Unity Technologies company) to deliver our ads. LevelPlay works with a number of ad networks that bid to fill each ad slot.
Depending on your consent choices, LevelPlay and its partner networks may process:
See the ironSource Privacy Policy for how LevelPlay handles this data.
Personalized ads use your advertising identifier to show ads that are more relevant to you. Non-personalized ads are based only on general context, such as the app you are using and your country.
You are never required to accept personalized ads. If you decline, you will still see rewarded ads and still earn the same rewards — the ads are simply less targeted.
You can change your advertising preferences at any time, in the app:
On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt appears before any advertising identifier is accessed. If you decline it, only non-personalized ads are shown. You can revisit this in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we present a consent form before any personalized advertising takes place, in line with the GDPR and the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. You may accept or decline, and you may change your answer later from Settings → Ads Policy.
We do not sell personal information for money. Under the CCPA/CPRA, sharing advertising identifiers with ad networks for personalized advertising may still be treated as a "sale" or "share". You can opt out by declining personalized ads in Settings → Ads Policy, which stops that sharing.
Letter Legends is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Where a user is identified as a child, only non-personalized ads are served.
Rewarded ads you can simply never tap. Interstitials you cannot opt out of individually — for those, ad removal is available as a purchase in the in-game Shop, and holding it stops interstitials appearing. Removing ads does not change the rest of your gameplay, and rewarded videos remain available if you still want the bonuses they offer.
If you see an ad that is inappropriate, misleading, broken, or that failed to pay out its reward, please tell us — we pass reports upstream to the ad network and can credit a missing reward.
If we ever change our ad formats — for example, if we were to introduce a format not listed in Section 2 — we will update this page, update the "Last Updated" date, and notify you in-app before the change takes effect.
